Dhansak Recipe
Ingredients (22)
- for the dhansak - lentils and veggies:
- 1 cup arhar dal
- ¼ cup moong dal
- ¼ cup masoor dal
- 1 large onion
- 4 to 5 medium sized tomatoes
- 2 medium size potatoes
- 2 to 3 medium-size eggplant (baingan)
- 4 tablespoon fresh fenugreek leaves
- 3 to 4 teaspoon tamarind pulp
- 2 to 3 tablespoon ghee
- 4 cups water
- salt to taste
- for the dhansak masala:
- 12 garlic cloves
- 1 inch ginger
- 1.5 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 large cinnamon of 2 inches
- 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
- 1 to 2 dry red chilies
- 8 to 9 cloves
- 2 green chilies
