- 2 tablespoons coconut oil or sesame oil (gingelly oil)
- 2 cups finely chopped or grated beetroot
- 1 green chili,
- 10 to 12 curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon urad dal
- 1 pinch asafoetida
- salt as required
- ⅓ cup water
- 3 to 4 tablespoons fresh grated coconut
