- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, chopped into small pieces
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten to break up the yolk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, (if using frozen, do not thaw the blueberries)
- Turbinado sugar, for sprinkling, optional
- For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
